I absolutely love this series, and the author writes very well. So please don't take this review the wrong way. I would still definitely recommend buying books from this author and reading this series. :)As for this book, however, it was soooo drawn out an lacking the excitement that the prior book had. The entire book is, in a nut shell, Tess trying to find a way to cure Meredith's sickness. The.Entire.Book. She and Dastien get very limited romance in this book, as it is constantly overshadowed by Meredith's situation. Don't get me wrong, there were exciting and attention grabbing scenes, but I really, really wanted some big romance with Tess & Dastien! How much longer is she going to be 17/too young to fully "mate" with Dastien?
And while we're on the subject of Tess...She's STILL not "one" with her wolf, and fights when she needs to shift. That wasn't ever really resolved in this book, unfortunately. So many things that Tess needed to resolve and address, but they all took a backseat to Meredith.
I was glad to see some resolution to other things, such as Tess balancing out her "bruja" side, and I was happy that things for Meredith didn't take a dire turn forever. But I still can't say that I loved this book. Too drawn out, and not enough Tess+Dastien!!
Lastly, what's up with the book being significantly shorter than the previous book? Did I miss something? The first book is pretty long, then this one is less than half of that?! I wanted more!!

Avoiding Alpha Alpha Girl Book 2 eBook Aileen Erin Reviews
I'm going to keep this short. For lack of a better term I think of calling this series a guilty pleasure of mine. Only, I don't feel guilty and it is not a pleasure of mine if life had taught me anything about pleasure.
I have never before in my life encountered a book (let alone a series of books) that frustrated me and made me laugh in equal degree.
The Alpha Girl series has the very dubious pleasure of being my first.
Becoming Alpha was a frustrating book with a borderline TSTL heroine, who was really annoying the hell out of me- only I enjoyed making fun of her. So, I kept her. As for the rest of her gang, well, I liked Meredith and I could care less for the rest of them. Really.
I hoped that this book will finally help me reach a desicion. Do I love this series or hate it? Do I want to keep in reading or should I just quit?
It is with sadness I'm admiting I'm still on the fence here.
On the one hand- Tessa is still borderline TSTL, Dastien still proves some creeper signs, Tessa is still special for no apparent reason (IMO), this book contained lots of religion (which is something that kind of annoyes me), Meredith was sleeping most of the book so I didn't get to enjoy her company, and the rest of the gang is just plain boring without much of character development. Oh, and the whole witches story line, what the hell?! [too weird, I didn't understand where did it come from]
To make things worse, I felt like half the book was beating around the bush and that it could be shorter (by half). Which coming from someone like me says something- Need I remind you? As long as a book is well written and well developed I don't care how long it is (especially if most of it is justified).
Well, here we were going in circles, it was annoying, Especially with the fact that things were resolved SO VERY EASILY in the end.
On the other hand- Dastien is really cute. Tessa is building a good relationship with Datien most of the time, which makes me really happy considerig how many books showes aweful (stalkery, too dependant) relationship between to teens in love. Yes, sometimes Dastien border on creeper, but guess what? Tessa at least tells him that he is a creeper on those times and she doesn't accept that. Also, they try to build an equal relationship where they relay on one another and respect each other (yes, sometimes they mess up but they try. I think they deserve lots of points for trying). Meredith and Donovan are really cute together and I want to see more of them [Actually, I have this great idea, how about we ditch Dastien, Tessa and the gang in favot of Meredith and Donovan???]. Last but not least, while Tessa keeps on annoying me greatly I have to admit she's evolving, she's coming to terms with herself and the wolf thingie. She is doing some development- and it gives me hope that in the next book she won't be so annoying.
So yeah, while I can't reccomand it whole heartedly. I still find it better than Twilight & Co.

I've just finished reading this book for the second time. Since a new book is out in the series, I'm re-reading all the books again. That should tell you something about how enjoyable these books are. The first time I read the books, I simply couldn't put them down. I'm having nearly as much trouble this time. It's a good thing I have a flexible lunch period. It never ends at a good point in the book. The characters are well developed and grow as the series progresses. The editing is excellent. I'm a grammar Nazi but have no complaints. Each book is complete but there is an ongoing story that is carried through the series too. I definitely recommend you read this book and the entire series.
After I finished "Becoming Alpha", I just had to read Avoiding Alpha....kinda wished I had avoided it.
There were some positive things to this book 1) You get to know Tessa & Dastian better. You can see their dynamic, their relationship, the power exchange between two wolves and how it works in a human/furry werewolf world. I also really liked Meredith & Donovan together. There relationship is just "too cute". It's like candy sweet. I'd love a spinoff with just them two.
Most of this book has Meredith in basically a drug induced werewolf coma. Meredith is there because of the curse from Tessa's family at the nearby coven. The book is basically "Tessa is going to save Meredith" if its the last thing she ever does. The dynamic between them two is great (especially at the end).
I really expected this book to explore more of her family. I really wish Tessa's Great Aunt helped me and you saw the dynamic with Tessa and her more. I also really wished there was more Axel. I know he is in college and away and stuff but I just wish there was more. I love the sibling connection between Tessa & Axel.
Also, the book ends with the "tribunal" looming. I know it's coming, but this book didn't want me to make buy the third installment in this series. It was just "ok". Nothing really amazing about it. Even the cover this time was lackluster for me. Maybe with more editing, this book could've been better. The "skeletal outline" was there but it just wasn't enough to really thrill me.
I will saw this, Aileen is a good author. This book is just not her best work.
