I almost skipped this one due to some of the reviews, I'm glad to say I didn't. The characters were well written and their story and issues believable. Too often, we try and make the characters fit our personality and nature. She had lived in a small town in Ireland her whole life and the bottom line was she never quit loving him. This happens in real life...people leave flowers on graves for divorced spouses years after they died....

I loved how she brought Esa into the story. It tied the book up with the others and has made me anxious to read his story. Not every book is for everyone, this one was definitely one I enjoyed.
I read any thing she writes .but this one I dont get she has a great group of guys on the team and she has done so much with them all but this one. I dont get it.
I'm a huge hockey fan, and who doesn't love a good romance?! The New York Blade series is a perfect fit for me! Love these books!
In this book Erin and Rory are lovers who have broken up all because of Rory's hockey career. Now he wants her back. All the twists and turns making things right make this a good book.
I love the rest of the books in this series and usually read them in just a few hours. This one took me over 2 weeks to read. I can't really put my finger on it. It really has nothing to do with hockey, in the other books the story has all the other team mates that you have met in the previous books. I admittedly don't usually like stories that take place in foreign countries especially when they more or less cuss every third paragraph in their language. I can't get the words arrsse and shiat out of my head it just really annoyed me. I wanted to smack the mom for selfishly trying to cut your daughter down/keep her from becoming what she dreams. I really didn't give Rory much thought until I read other reviews. Now I agree with some of the other readers. There was no build up, or remorse. It was just yeah I'm here, I want you, I'm sorry, leave your homeland for me, what ca gonna do about it. I will most likely read the next books in the series just hope they go back to their former glory. This one was slow with not a single exciting scene.
Most of the other books in the Blades series have a fair mixture of romance as well as team involvement. With the exception of the last chapter and Esa's brief trip to Ballycraig, the team element was non existent. I hope Deidre will continue with this series but go back to the structure of some of her earlier works like Body Check, Fair Play and Power Play.
I know romances are not supposed to have this super complicated plot and surprising twists. No one expects a Song of Ice and Fire. But characters are supposed to be relatable. The guy is a complete d-bag and the girl is a push-over. I really like this author and have read my eyes out with every one of her novels, but this one just missed the mark. There is no depth in any of the characters, no struggles, no twists, no enthusiasm. It's just boring... We all know how romances end, but we'd still like to get some emotion in between.
