Where does it say that a cop and a Carpathian can not come to an agreement? It takes communication and lots of patience but it can done. However; when your stalker comes calling you had better be prepared or things can and will go wrong.

After reading 📖 and rereading this series over and over I always find myself thinking, why is cop 👮‍♀️ scared of everything? Even with a stalker 👀 she was more scared 😱 of a human than a vampire 🧛‍♂️. Maybe it’s me? Lol. Anyway, I did enjoy reading 📖 this book 📚 and hope you will enjoy 😊 it just as much.

Dark Guardian The Carpathians Dark Series Book 8 Christine Feehan 9780843949940 Books Reviews

I had only read one of the Dark Guardian series (Dark Desire) and kind of liked it--it was a good summer read. Since the reviews indicated that Feehan tended to use the same plot device over and over, I read the descriptions about the other books and bought Dark Guardian since it sounded interesting.

It was vaguely interesting although I found the part about her stepfather killing everyone she loves over the years a little far fetched. However Ms. Feehan was either unable or unwilling to develop the plot more fully so she added lots of sex scenes between the two leading characters. And I mean a lot. She writes in great detail about them making love, and then afterwards they have a short conversation and then go at it again. I started skimming through the sex about three-fourths of the way through the book. And how many times can he thrust his fingers into her hot sheath? Many times apparently---I wanted to scream find another descriptive phrase!
These books pretty much follow the same plot. Boy needs girl, meets her, she fights then finally succumbs. All the time there are vampires trying to pull them apart and 9 times out of 10, one of the main characters has a "problem."
Even though the plot is predictable, the author tends to integrate the characters from other stories, which makes the stories more interesting than what it might be otherwise. There are currently 21 books in this series; I am wondering whether or not I'll be able to read all these. I may need to "take a break" and then continue later on.
This is my absolute FAVOURITE in the Carpathian series apart from Dark Slayer. While the forced relationships have put some of my friends off (the magical binding of psychic women to Carpathian men) I have really enjoyed the world.

Do yourself a favour though. Start at the beginning. I was gifted Book 19 by a friend and didn't realise until I went looking for more (and book 19 wasn't a favourite once I got into it).

Dark Guardian has everything - good guys, bad guys, really sad moments, really scary moments, really funny moments. A man who just takes charge and a tiny woman who challenges him and stands by his side in a fight.
I so enjoyed Lucien & Jaxson's story. He was great, of course he was a dominant alpha, but so tender, loving and patient with her. And so romantic too, I mean decorating his home as per the images he had picked from her mind, and the ending he gave her was perfect. Jaxson (for the most part) was my kind of heroine beautiful, strong, resourceful and very smart. I loved reading about how she adapted about now being Carpethian and using her new powers. And I was very grateful (that unlike the heroine in "Dark Secret", a book I recently read and hated) she was not in a perpetual lust frenzy, 24/for/7. Jaxso does experience desire for the hero, but with moderation and never in a demeaning sort of way. And most importantly to me, there is a lot of the hero's point of view throughout the book, what he is feeling, thinking etc. Yes, there are the inevitable graphic love scenes, but if you are like me, you can skip some of those pages, for the rest of the story is too fabulous to miss.

However, there were a few things I did not like. I did not say the book was perfect, but rather that I loved it. For starter we have a very tiny
heroine yet again. Secondly, I know in the animal world the male of the species, has the longer feathers, the nicer mane, but in the human world, I like for the woman's hair to be longer, or at least as long as the he. Trivial I know, but I am writing about my personal likes in my reading material. Also I love when the heroines are very in touch with their ic side, but I rather they be femenine and elegant, instead of somewhat of tomboy as Jaxson is (althoughe she is femenine in her own sort of way). And finally what bothered me the most was the heroine's self image, though she was supposed to be beautiful she does not think she is . And worse she does not think she deserves him, because he is so gorgeous that he deserves someone (who unlike her) is tall, beautiful and elegant. That was a big turn off for me. Not the mental pictures I want. I gues one cannot have every fantasy fulfill in a book. Still all in all, this book was really wonderful.
